DONATEBARBADIAN ORIGINS
In the summer of 2018, I was diagnosed with Graves Disease which is a debilitating auto-immune disease that attacks the immune system, bones, and organs. My options for treatment were to take radioactive iodine for the rest of my life and to have my thyroid removed. Being a health nut this clearly was not an option for me, so I decided to do some research on homeopathic treatment for endocrine diseases. This research connected me with some amazing doctors that were instrumental in my healing process.
I am happy to report that in less than a year, being treated holistically has resulted in me being completely Graves-free!
Although I had an amazing support system, I really felt compelled to not only share my journey and my doctors with the world but to also be your support system, so that you too can overcome this illness. My logo design fully encompasses my journey through this healing process.
The circle represents the connection to my company, Full Circle and it also represents completion in healing. The broken trident in the Barbados flag represents the breakaway by the independence of the island from Great Britain in 1966. It also reflects my break away from my illness of Graves.
I chose to use the colors and symbols of the Barbadian flag as I am a descendent of the strong and proud Bajan people. The DAG Foundation is affectionately named after my grandfather Darnley Barrow and my Grandmother Almira Forde, who if not for the decisions these strong and determined individuals made, none of us, or this, would exist. Honoring their names by helping others was a very clear decision and aligns perfectly with our mission.
Thank you, Darnley and Almira, for without you none of this would be possible!
